    Pendleton married Veronica B. Saunders in 1900 in Baltimore Co., Maryland. Veronica was born in 1877 in Maryland.

    General Notes: MRS. CHARLOTTE PARROTT HACKETT, of 1006 Willowdale Drive, died Wednesday, November 11, 1992, at Brian Center, Durham, North Carolina, from heart and respiratory illnesses. She was eighty-two.

    She was born on August 1, 1910, in Baltimore, Maryland. Mrs. Hackett graduated from Frederick Douglas High School at age sixteen and later earned a Teaching Degree from what was then Coppin Normal School and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from what is now Morgan State University. She started a long career as a teacher in the Baltimore Public Schools.

    In 1934, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Rufus E. Hackett, Sr., of Baltimore, Maryland and to this union two children were born, Veronica and Rufus Edward.

    Mr. and Mrs. Hackett lived in Baltimore for many years. During that time, she was affiliated with several clubs, namely the Girlfriends, the Stork Club, Jack and Jill and she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

    In 1968, Mr. Hackett received a promotion to the Home Office of North Carolina Life Insurance Company and the couple moved to Durham, North Carolina. For the next twenty years or more, the Hacketts became part of the Durham Community.

    Mrs. Hackett was a devoted member of Asbury Temple United Methodist Church, Durham, North Carolina. She served in many capacities in her church. Among which are the following: President, Local Unit of United Methodist Women: Chairperson, Commitee Age Level and Family Ministries; Chairperson, Pastor-Parish Relations Committee; Member of Committee, Older Adult MInistries; Class Leader, Chairperson; sponsored the Upper Room Reading Program; the Birthday Celebrations and Special Days for the Church Family.

    Her participation was not limited to Asbury Temple United Methodist Church, but also included services at District and Conference levels. Membership and participation was had in Durham Congregations in Action; Urban Ministries and Church Women United.

    Mrs. Hackett's memberships were many and varied including Durham Housing Authority Prevention Board, former Editor and member of Merrick/Washington Magazine For The Blind Board and Women In Action For the Prevention Of Violence.

    Survivors include: her husband of fifty-eight years, Rufus E. Hackett, Sr., of Durham, North Carolina; a daughter, Veronica L. Fullwood of Baltimore, Maryland; a son, Rufus E. Hackett, Jr., of Marlboro, New Jersey; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Burgess-Hackett, of Marlboro, New Jersey and four grandchildren. Mrs. Hackett also leaves to mourn: her two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.

    Memorial Services will be held at Asbury Temple United Methodist Church in Durham, North Carolina along with the dedication of Asbury Temple United Methodist Church Library in her honor, Sunday, December 6, 1992. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Charlotte Hackett Memorial Library Fund, Asbury Temple United Methodist Church, South Alston Avenue, Durham, North Carolina 27707.

    Charlotte married Rufus Edward Hackett. Rufus was born on 4 Feb 1910 in Baltimore Co., Maryland and died on 13 Aug 1997 in Durham, Durham Co., North Carolina at age 87.

    Pendleton married Martha Lillian Matthews Murphy. Martha was born on 18 Apr 1902 in Baltimore Co., Maryland and died on 19 Apr 1981 in Baltimore Co., Maryland at age 79.

    Former principal

    Services for William N. Parrott, Sr., a former Baltimore school principal, will be held 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Jams Episcopal Church in the 800 block of Arlington Avenue.

    Mr. Parrott, 82, died Friday after a long illness at his home in Asbhburton, where he had lived about 15 years. He retired in 1972 from Arundel Elementary School in Cherry Hill.

    Mr. Prrott, who became principal at Aurndel when it opened in 1954, had previously served 43 years as an administrator and teacher at schools throughout West Baltimore.

    A native Baltimorean, h was a graduate of Douglass High School and Coppin State Teacher's College. He later received a bachelor's of science in education from Morgan State University.

    Mr. Parrott, who also was a piano teacher, served for many years as organist and choir director for St. James. In the early 1950s, he wrote the music for two hymns, of them the "Angel Song" - a published tune that was sung during the church's Christmas programs.

    Mr. Parrott also was a member of the Maryland State Teacher's Association, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the American Association of Retired Persons, a social club entitled "The Boyfriends," and other groups.

    Mr. Parrott is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Mae E. Jordan of Baltimore; as son, William N. Parrott Jr. of Kent Island; a sister, Charlotte Hackett of Durham, N.C.; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

    WILLIAM NATHANIEL PARROTT, JR.of Chester, MD, retired educator and a man who gave so much of himself and touched the lives of so many died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. He was 81.

    William Nathaniel Parrott, Jr., son of the late, William and Mae Parrott, was born May 20, 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended the Baltimore public schools, graduating from Douglass High School in 1946. In 1952, he successfully completed Coppin State Teachers College receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. He earned a Master's degree from the University of Maryland and later a Certificate of Advanced Study from Johns Hopkins University.

    Before starting his professional career, he served in an administrative office with the 7th Army Headquarters in Germany for two years. "Bill", as he was fondly known to his family and friends, began his educational career in the Baltimore City school system as a classroom teacher, demonstration teacher, principal and administrator in various capacities in the central office. After twenty years of service, he transferred to the Baltimore County school system where he served as administrator of special and federal programs until retirement in 1984. Three years prior to retirement, Mr. Parrott and his wife moved to Kent Island on the Eastern Shore preparing for days of retirement.

    Being a person of varied professional and personal interest, Mr. Parrot assumed a number of leadership roles with organizations including Association of School Business Officials, various Teacher's Associations, Commission on Aging, Queen Anne's County Library Board, Adult Day Care Foundation, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Kent Island Civic Confederation, Maryland Cooperative Extension Services, and the American Association of Retired Persons (local and national).

    A dedicated churchman, Mr. Parrott attended St. James Church until after moving to the Eastern Shore where he then became affiliated with Christ Episcopal Church on Kent Island. He worked on various committees and also held position of Senior Warden. In addition, he volunteered playing the organ prior to the early service.

    Despite his busy schedule with his family, church and community, he still had time for hobbies. He was interested in photography, music, the theatre, reading, traveling and the computer. Bill always found time for helping others. People who knew Bill found him to be loyal, dependable, and caring. Whatever the task, he could always be counted upon to accomplish it with interest and skill. Throughout his life, he received numerous awards and certificates in appreciation for his exceptional volunteer services.

    Leaving to cherish wonderful memories of him are his loving wife, Camilla, two children from a previous marriage, Angela Thomas of Baltimore, MD and Wayne Parrott of Baltimore, MD and their spouses, Melvin and Frances, four grandchildren, Niquita Lyles, Nathaniel Parrott, Sedgwick Williams, Jr. and Jacqueline Henry and her spouse Morris Henry, Sr, four great grandchildren, Joshua Dorsey and Enza Williams and Morris Henry, Jr. and Javaar Lyles, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, a host of cousins and numerous other relatives and countless friends.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 12:00 pm at Christ Episcopal Church in Stevensville, MD. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, PA 106 Shamrock Road Chester, MD 21619, 410-643-2226.

    William next married Camilla Jackson Williams. Camilla was born on 14 Aug 1930 in Baltimore Co., Maryland and died on 30 Sep 2022 in Chester, Queen Anne's Co., Maryland at age 92.

    General Notes: Camilla J. Parrott of Chester, MD, retired educator, devoted wife to the late William Nathaniel Parrott, loving mother to Sedgwick D. Williams Sr., grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of so many departed this life on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 92 years of age.

    Camilla, born August 14, 1930, was the 9th of 10 children born to the late Norman and Grace Jackson in Baltimore, Maryland. Nestled in the warmth and security of a large loving family, she had a very happy childhood chronicled in her many scrapbooks and photo albums. She often spoke glowingly of the closeness not only in her home but also in her community as many of her extended family lived in the same neighborhood and they visited each other from house to house.

    Along with the love, Camilla's childhood was buttressed with principles and structure. Education, promptness, grace, and manners were standards regularly taught and reinforced on a firm foundation of faith in God.

    Camilla was educated in the Baltimore City School System. Always driven to excellence, Camilla, achieved high honors throughout primary, secondary, and high school. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Coppin State College where she was class valedictorian and later earned her master's from Johns Hopkins University along with additional credentials in Advance Study and Education from Loyola University.

    During her career she served as classroom teacher, demonstration teacher for teachers of disadvantaged children at Morgan State College, supervising teacher assistant principal and principal, retiring in 1983. Her educational career was marked by the utmost integrity, deep loyalty, high professional ethics, and a deep abiding love and appreciation for children, teachers, and parents whom she served.

    Camilla held membership at Unity Methodist Church, Metropolitan Methodist Church, Saint James Episcopal Church, and Christ Episcopal Church on Kent Island. She was a church schoolteacher and served on various committees in the church assuming many leadership roles.

    Despite her busy schedule with her family, church, and community, she still devoted time to hobbies and organization affiliations. She was active in many organizations such as the Commission on Aging, Chester Homemakers, Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Maryland State Teachers Association, Retired Teachers of Maryland, American Association of Retired Persons, Christ Church Altar Guild, and Queen Anne's County Hospice, just to name a few.

    We will miss her radiant smile, her gracious style, her incomparable Jewish Apple cake, her words of encouragement and the sincerity in her voice when she said, "Love you!".

    Mrs. Parrott leaves to cherish her memory her two devoted grandchildren, Sedgwick Williams Jr., and Jacqueline Henry (Rohn McLean), three great-grandchildren, Joshua Dorsey, Enza Williams and Morris Henry Jr, one daughter-in-law, Denise Williams one sister, Betty Tilghman, preceded in death by her son Sedgwick Williams Sr. and siblings: Mildred Bazemore, Mary Thomas, Grace Stokes, Norman Jackson, Winston Jackson, Charles Jackson, Robert Jackson, and Walter Jackson ;and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
